About Dental Crowns
To repair and protect cracked teeth, yellowing enamel, substantial decay, and more concerns, dental crowns go over the whole tooth. At DentalWorks - Belden Plaza in Canton, OH, crowns (also called caps) are sturdy, long-lasting covers that fit securely on top of the visible portion of the tooth for patients where dental decay is too big to be healed with a composite-resin filling or if the patient's tooth is cracked and requires a shield. Crowns may also be added to cover an off-color tooth as well as to increase the stability to a bridge. Crowns by our dentists at DentalWorks - Belden Plaza may be metal, porcelain, or ceramic, based on the placement of the crown. The back teeth generally need the added durability of metal, whereas the social teeth look more attractive with ceramic or porcelain crowns that are shaded to blend with the patient's natural teeth.

"I came in to get my broken tooth fixed. When they did xrays they found where I need some work done and they were VERY pleasant about it.They are all friendly and made you feel welcome!"- T.M. / Yelp / May 26, 2017
"I just came home from my appointment. My whole family of 5 has been going to DentalWorks since 2007. They've seen my kids (2 of whom are adults now and still going there) through cavities and braces. They are always fast, efficient, and gentle on your teeth. We've also seen them while with different insurance companies, so they must be on most plans."- H.M. / Yelp / May 08, 2017
"They want and will help you bent over backwards to help me and my wife didn't feel like a dentist office"- L.W. / Facebook / Apr 26, 2017
"They deserve ten stars. Took my elderly blind neighbor to Bright Now dental and waited over an hour and a half past our appt time. Was so angry we walked out and didn't know what to do so we found Dental Works in the same mall. We had no appt but they fit us right in. They were wonderful. Had to have 12 teeth pulled and now onto dentures. All the women that work there are very friendly and caring. Dr Chi was great and very gentle on a poor lady who was scared to death. Would highly recommend them and their price was the best too!!!!!"- D.P. / Yelp / Mar 29, 2017
What to Expect
To craft a customized crown, our dentists initially prep the tooth by taking off a slim layer of enamel before taking dental X-rays and physical impressions of the tooth that will be delivered to a dental lab. A temporary cap will be placed over the tooth while the permanent, custom crown is being made. Once the permanent, custom crown is returned to DentalWorks - Belden Plaza in Canton, OH, our dentists will expertly fit and set the crown over the tooth. Our dentists can modify the cap for a more comfortable fit.
Some patients can have short-term soreness or heightened tooth sensitivity, however most patients don't experience any discomfort once the cap is placed. With correct at-home care and recommended dental cleanings and exams, a dental crown can remain in place for at least ten years, based on the material and placement of the cap. It is possible that a cavity or infection can develop in the tooth under the crown, which usually requires a root canal therapy or another procedure.
When the dental crown is deemed a necessary procedure, dental insurance policies may pay some or most of the expenses, so our office staff at DentalWorks - Belden Plaza in Canton, OH will consult with the insurance company to calculate their coverage as well as the patient's personal expenses. Estimated expenses, payment methods, and financing options are accepted in our office in Canton, OH and can be explained at the patient's consultation with our dentists.
